5 Ways a Mattress Topper Can Save You Money

Everyone knows what a mattress topper or what is otherwise known as a mattress pad is. They are just thin pads of foam that you place on top of your mattress to either protect the mattress from stains that you may cause or to protect you from the dangers of an old mattress. Many people get a mattress topper simply because any warranty that they get on their mattress is voided if it stains and if you are going for a really expensive mattress, it is best to cover your bases by using one of these.

There are other ways in which a mattress topper can save you money and some of them are listed below.

1. Toppers can extend the life of your mattress. If you are using an old one, but do not want to spend $500 or $1000 getting another one, a simple mattress topper on top of the old one will allow you to use the same old mattress for a few more years.

2. You can get a cheaper mattress and pay more for a really good topper. Considering that the topper is what will be in contact with you this is a good idea. A good mattress will cost you nearly a thousand dollars while a relatively good topper will only cost you $100 or $150.

3. Even if you use really good quality coverlets and change them everyday, your mattress will still get stained over time. A topper will help you keep your mattress as good as new for years, result you don't have to replace your mattress as often.

4. A good topper will totally seal in your old mattress. Many of us will have old mattresses that are perfectly usable, except that because they are old they will have a lot of bed bugs and many of us are allergic to them. Instead of going out and getting a new mattress, all you have to do is get yourself a new topper and you are done.

5. Most mattresses, even the foam ones, will form mildew in them if they get damp. Mildew is very allergic and even the most hardy of us cannot stand to sleep on a mattress that has mildew. This problem is very frequent in households that have small babies and even if you use the rubberized lining, you cannot completely prevent your bed from getting wet. Using a water proof topper will solve the problem and you can continue to use the same topper even after.
