The Benefits of Fish Oil Vitamin

The term, fish oil vitamin is not particularly correct because fish fat is not a vitamin. People refer to it as one because just like vitamins it is among the essential nutrients our body needs to function well; but unfortunately our body can not manufacture them on its own. Hence we get them through diets and supplementation.

For starters, fisoil contains omega 3 fatty acids such as DHA and EPA and these essential fatty acids have numerous health benefits. Omega 3 fatty acids have been shown to lower triglyceride levels in those with hypertriglyceridemia. There are also indications that it may help to prevent death in persons who have suffered myocardial infarction.

Other health conditions that could be alleviated with omega 3 supplements are:

High Blood pressure - Studies show that daily consumption of about 3000mg of fish fatty acids helps to lower both diastolic and systolic blood pressures in those with untreated high blood pressure.

Crohn's disease - There are also indications that it may help to significantly reduce relapse rate in persons with Crohn's disease.

Rheumatoid arthritis - Studies show that people that suffer from rheumatoid arthritis have lower level of omega 3 fatty acids; hence regular consumption of fish oil vitamin helps to increase the amount of these essential fatty acids in the fluid and blood in their joints. The anti-inflammatory properties of omega 3 have also been proven to help alleviate the pains of arthritis.

Cholesterol - DHA omega 3 supplementation has been proven to help lower bad cholesterol (LDL) and increase the good one (HDL)

It is also beneficial in treating health conditions such as cystic fibrosis, cardiac arrhythmia, bipolar disorder, asthma, lupus, schizophrenia, ulcerative colitis, psoriasis and many others.

It is important to note that fish fatty acid that is not properly purified can contain harmful contaminants such as mercury, PCBs and heavy metals; so make sure that you buy fish oil vitamin that is molecularly distilled. That is the only way that you will be sure that the oil is separated from the contaminants; also look for the one that is high in DHA and EPA for optimum benefits.
